A few months ago I had an in depth conversation with a lady in her 70's and during that conversation she told me she lost her friend a few months prior and that of all the people she'd lost including her husband, she didn't realize she'd miss her so much.
For some reason I can't stop wondering if she meant it was a friend she loved dearly, but didn't spend as much time with? Was it a person she saw every now and again? Or was it her best friend..?
These things tend to stick with an old soul like me..but I try to learn a bit of wisdom and perspective from someone who has dealt with more of this life than I have.
I met her eyes with mine and I could almost feel her thoughts as she looked at me with "don't make the same mistake..!"
Have you ever had a moment when you didn't have to say anything to someone..but, could almost hear their soul speak?!!
I listened.
So..
I don't write New Year resolutions but I thought I'd ring in the almost new year with some well wishes for you and perhaps a couple of things to ponder for myself and maybe you can take one or maybe you'll write your own!
Here goes..!
May you take the time to laugh..alot!! Sometimes at yourself.
May you find true value in people instead of focusing on their faults.
May you spend a moment or just a few seconds looking through a different person's lens of perspective before you get angry.
May you have the courage to talk to someone on the phone..or call them back if they leave a message...! :)
May you speak a bit of life into someone who needs kindness.
May you resist the urge to bully yourself..about anything and everything.
May you have the courage to live in freedom instead of fear of "what if.."
May you have the courage to let things go if they are unhealthy for you to live in the present.
May you realize that most people in starving lands think we are a bunch of "lightweights" and our problems aren't worth the time we put into them.
May people come first at all times.
And may you feel loved and cherished in 2014!!
Happy 2014..!
