We'll here we are..we have one week left to move into our new home and I have settled in a corner chair (away from thing one and thing two) for a moment to tell you all about it!
Before I do, here's a little update on our two little characters.
Evan's IEP meeting was today and for the most part went well. I think most of these little school meetings are wonderful after I put the instructors and staff at ease that I don't need to be pampered and tip-toed around about my son. I know him. I live and breath over him..do homework with him..discipline him and love him so much it's almost achy..! (I'm sure that's a good thing!!)
So, I get that out of the way in the beginning and we all move forward as far as setting goals for Evan and the best way to get him there.
Evan can read most of the site-words learned and is progressing beautifully with his reading. Writing is ok and his math is not so good due to us pushing the reading so much. So, naturally we'll pull back on one and move forward with the other.
Everyone in the room (and there were almost 10 of us) agrees that by the end of the year he will be exactly where he needs to be and will progress just fine. His main issue has always been his attention or I should say "lack of attention" and focus. So, in a nutshell..if we can get this kid to stay engaged and focused..everything will start to align!!
So, we are very proud of him..and he's been telling everyone of his new house he's moving into!!
As far as our dear Princess Olivia goes, I'm sometimes just having to take a step back and look closely at this baby turned toddler almost before my eyes!
Unbelievably, she amazes me because of how she communicates with me and you know I never had a "typical" child..so all this is still a mystery to me at how they naturally progress.
It took her a week in underwear to be potty trained. Not to mention I didn't need to worry about naps and she's working very hard at night-time. Is this what it's supposed to be like..?!
Praise God anyways..It works!!
She likes to talk and cuddle and sing and twirl and be silly. Has mentioned when she goes to school she'll be going to "ballerina school" (like Angelina Ballerina!). And would like to wear her princess dress everyday..IF she could get away with it.
Scott and I are sort of starting a new chapter here..same book, though! So, yes, next week we will be moving into our home. Hopefully, we'll have the opportunity to be here for a good long while.
Interestingly, I'm at a bittersweet place in my life. On one hand I'm excited about our new adventure..on the other, I'll never be able to forget where I've come from.
I'll just summarize what I know..I was never suppose to make it here. I was never really even supposed to be born. I was never supposed to make it out of a ghetto..never supposed to make it past high-school, and never supposed to be married this long and have come this far. How we've had two kiddos (and stayed married)..one with autism, and one typical child who might actually believe she's a princess..is purely a mysterious act of faith and much needed mercy!
Lots of things to be thankful for..remind me sometime every now and again!!
