Over the course of my life, I've always been the slow learner in christianity..among other subjects...! Learning things the hard way, and words like grace, faith and sovereignty have always been hard for me to grasp onto.
I've had to come to terms of them as life unfolds..kind of like a flower.
Oh...I've done a great job of sizing myself up to the next girl, and stupidly so, wondering how I was ever going to get all this right.
I mean, I still use the index to tell me where all the books of the bible are.
I'm still trying to memorize a verse or two and read it daily..just a verse..even!
And I already told you about looking up all the major "christian" holidays..!

So..then, I read things about the life of Christ and see that he spent more time with the broken than he did with the Holy Rollers..and I have to wonder, "..what's this about..?"!
Yet..
Yet..
Jesus was often times seeking out the lost.
He would leave a flock of 99 sheep to find that one lost sheep.
He came along at the right time and moment to meet Zacheus and tell him to get out of the tree for dinner and a chance to talk.
He asked a separated and crushed Peter 3 times "do you love me" to answer for the 3 times he rejected him.
He sat with broken, sinful woman, who washed his feet with her tears in a time when if you were holy..you didn't let those types of people touch you.
He left and went to a strange city to see a woman at a well.
He went to a far off place to see a demon possessed man.
Needless to say, he was pretty good with hanging out with people who were not indoctrinated with a theological degree...or felt at all like they were worthy of his love and affection.
He was seeking a greater purpose other than checking a box with people.
Yet, a lady I talk to at the gym, recently divorced, with 4 kiddos, tells me she stopped asking people from her church to meet or "hang out" because they never seem to have time for her. They're too busy doing more important things for the church..and with people in the church.
She has a point.
The ladies I've encountered are all about being busy..doing heaven knows what..with more important people..than me..
Busy, busy, busy and busier.
I question the effectiveness of the message of the Christ when the whole purpose of what Jesus was trying to do is squelched by busy-ness.
I wish I could tell people to slow down.
Slow it down and "..have time for that"...unhurried time..time when you can talk.
Have time to listen and not have any answers because there are broken people out there who need you to go looking for them.
Some don't want you to find them..maybe ever...and yet..others do.
I wish upon wish that my small, idealistic and strange little blog could just touch your soul for a moment and tell you that your words and life matter to those around you.
And that you are super valuable to people...and they need you...more than ever!
(Though they may not tell you this!)
Inspire someone, have lunch or coffee with someone, and laugh your stinking heads off together about this life that seems to be so..well..daily..!!
Go and do my friends..go and do!!
;)
