When you find yourself wandering in the desert..

I often think of myself as a better Christ follower than a religious person.
There are lot of things that I have to remember and google over and over..like today which is Ash Wednesday. (I know...shame, shame..I know my name..for some of you!)
However, today..this Ash Wednesday..marks the day where Jesus enters the desert for 40 days.
40 days of wandering around in the desert.
Have you ever felt a point or season in your life where you wandered around..parched..not for water, but for hope..or faith..or maybe a little bit of encouragement..something..anything?
I have.
Wandering aimlessly, looking for someone to just quench my thirst..my need for a little bit of hope for my soul.
Many people came and went, but not one of them gave me what my soul needed.
It was my time to either have faith in Jesus..that he was who he says he is..or he wasn't.
And Faith is hard to hold onto at times.
Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

There is something true about all of us, is that there is always a time in our life where we seem to  fit our teeth and wonder, "when will this end?".
It's hard to suffer..most of the time silently..and believe that no one sees you or cares for you.
If that's you right now, know that you are seen. Press into your faith..what little you have..and trust that you are cared for.
Your season may last for what seems like eternity, but if you continue on to Hebrews 11..you realize how many of the patriarchs went before us..wrestling with this thing that they did not understand at the time.
They didn't know the outcome that we read.

13 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a cityfor them.

So, when you are desperate..looking for something to cling to..remember this.

Jesus went in for 40 days to be tested and tempted and also, I believe, to walk with all of us and show us that you haven't walked this alone.
You are not alone.
Even if you are doing it like I did..with little faith, and little hope, you can walk out of your season better than before. You can do this.
I promise..and then you'll surprise yourself...and write something like this..or tell someone something like this..and then help someone go through their season.
You will find out how important is is that you keep going..and that maybe..just maybe..someone else needs your faith..!
Happy Ash Wednesday!
:)
