Potty talk...!

Ok..for those of you who are interested in evan's (and olivia's) progress..and not my mental stability..a blurb..!
We are proud to say that Evan, as of a month ago, is fully potty trained..still needing a little prompting by us..but, can and will do it.
We praise God for getting us here, and for providing us with amazing ABA therapists (mainly Alex and Whitney from Playdate Behavioral Interventions). I cannot tell you how emotional it is to see you're child progress in an area that other children have long achieved.
This is when I get to crack my knuckles...
There are some of you, in the past few years, who have made us feel like horrible parents..parading your children around at two, potty trained..and have made it clear that we must be doing something wrong. We must not work enough with him or we are neglectful..or clearly he shouldn't be in diapers till four..!!
Well, first of all, he is autistic..we didn't know that till recently..but, now that we do, we are a little embarrassed for you. Thank God right now you don't have a a child like this..and pray you never, ever judge a mom based on society's system often imposed on our children.
And, While I'm at it..a freakin' karate chop to some of you..the few proud, haughty people...these are children, all created by God..and you think you have control over your
kid, but you do not. And, please remember we as moms of these children have been through more
heart breaks and set backs before the age of two for some of us..then over a "typical" kid.
So now onto Olivia, lest we forget Olivia..!
She is babbling, saying small words like dog, and mumbling off things after us..we just nod
our heads, figuring she is saying something..we just don't speak baby-nese..!!
She climbs onto everything, eats mostly everything and we have had a few attempts for potty
training..but, she seems more interested in sitting on the throne, rather than using it.
Typical diva behavior..!
She loves her brother, finds him to be fascinating and whatever he loves, she loves. She can
be a little shy at times, and bold at others. She likes to sit and color and play with play-
doh. That surprises us because Evan has only recently done that. But, I hear it's a boy, girl
thing..and I believe it.
Olivia has an incredible hug...it's an embrace you cannot get enough of.
Evan has recently started to draw us or Olivia close to his face and very intentionally and
seriously whisper "I love you" and give kisses and a big hug. It is something that we find
amazing and get a chuckle over.
We are grateful to God for giving us both of them.
It is a job, believe it or not that we "get to do"...we were allowed to be part of these
kiddos lives..and they are allowed to be part of ours.
Incredible feeling..incredible!
